In this course, you will be introduced to AT and how it can be considered, assessed, implemented, and documented in the IEP in order to support students in all educational settings. General Education Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Administrators, and Related Service Providers will all benefit from completing this course. After completing this module, participants will be able to:
1. Define assistive technology (AT).
2. Identify the ten categories of AT.
3. Understand the four laws that impact the provision of AT.
4. Identify the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology (QIAT).
5. Understand the purpose of the QIAT Matrices as a self-assessment tool.
6. Understand the consideration process and be able to consider AT during an Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting.
7. Understand the purpose of an AT assessment, who completes it, and the resources available for completing it.
8. Understand the process for documenting AT in the IEP.
