The autism training shall include a minimum awareness of the characteristics of autism and children, resources available, and an introduction to positive behaviors of ports to challenging behaviors. This training module is intended to assist the Oklahoma School Districts and meet these requirements of Senate Bill 2071. The training is geared towards general education teachers pre-kindergarten through third grade and is also appropriate for any other staff working with students with ASD. This module is based on the premise that children with autism should be included in all settings within the school environment, including the regular education classroom. Too broad terms, autism and autism spectrum disorder are frequently used to refer to the entire autism spectrum.
