Full course description
This course fulfills the requirements listed in 70 O.S. § 1210.196.5: Guidelines for Training of Volunteer Diabetes Care Assistants. A certificate will be available after you complete this training, and you will need to keep it on file for the regional accreditation officer visit and for verification for re-certification. This training needs to be renewed every year for LPNs and non-licensed staff. RNs will renew every 3 years. Other Approved Courses: - National Association of School Nurses Diabetes Training: including but not limited to Helping Administer To The Needs Of The Student With Diabetes In School (H.A.N.D.S., as long as available and not more than 3 years since last training). - American Diabetes Association Safe at School Diabetes Care Tasks at School: What Key Personnel Need to Know Curriculum Along with the use of, Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed: A Guide for School Personnel. - Oklahoma State Department of Health Diabetes Management in Schools Training: Provided in conjunction with the Oklahoma State Department of Education around the state throughout the year: https://sde.ok.gov/safe-and-healthy-schools-professional-learning. Additional training may be submitted for approval by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The trainings must be reviewed and meet all requirements set forth in the state law.
