The creation of this self-paced, fully online micro-credential for physical education was mandated by the legislation in order to help prepare Oklahoma’s educators to teach high quality physical education instruction. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of the academic standards for physical education to anyone participating in the implementation of physical education. The course consists of six modules, each covering a different fundamental component of successful high quality physical education instruction: Module 1: Examines the Meaningful Physical Education (MPE) approach to instruction. Module 2: Identifies the importance of knowing the students through their play personalities to provide relevant learning experiences. Module 3: Reviews the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Physical Education (OAS-PE). Module 4: Offers recommendations for aligning pedagogy, curriculum, and instructional strategies to the MPE philosophy. Module 5: Discusses methods for designing appropriate physical education assessments. Module 6: Explains how to address adapted physical education and meet the needs of all learners.
