Full course description

The Self-Determination Curriculum is a comprehensive, fully developed learning hub housed in OSDE Connect, designed to empower learners from kindergarten through adulthood. Built on the belief that every student can thrive when equipped with the skills to make informed choices, advocate for their needs, and persist through challenges, this curriculum provides educators with a structured pathway to teach essential lifelong skills.
The curriculum includes core self-determination components such as choice making, decision making, goal setting, problem solving, goal attainment, self-knowledge, self-awareness, self-management, persistence, and self-advocacy. Each construct includes grade-specific content, allowing educators to introduce and build skills in developmentally appropriate ways from early elementary years through adult transition.
Aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards for English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, the curriculum supports seamless integration into both general education and special education classrooms. It can also be incorporated into guidance lessons, transition instruction, or multi-tiered systems of support.
Each section includes book recommendations tied to the skill area, ready-to-use resources, activities, and data collection tools to support ongoing progress monitoring. The curriculum offers educators a flexible, organized structure while giving students concrete strategies to understand themselves, set goals, solve problems, and take ownership of their futures.
By using this curriculum hub, you are giving students the foundation to lead confident, capable, and self-directed lives. Start exploring today and help your students take charge of their future!
